Title:
SENSOR USING VARIATION IN BUOYANCY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0339625
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy and to reduce the cost by converting and measuring pressure or temperature at the upper and lower floating positions of a sphere by utilizing the variation in buoyancy due to the compression and expansion of gas charged in a sealed container made of rubber. CONSTITUTION:A screw part 2 for a pipe joint to which pressure gas to be measured is connected is provided on the container 1 made of transparent glass in a test-tube shape. A proper amount of liquid 4 is charged in this container 1 and an adjusting weight 7 and a cylindrical float rod 8 are fitted to the upper and lower parts of the rubber-made sphere 6 in which the gas 5 compressed to proper pressure previously in sealed in the liquid 4. Then when a hose 3 for the pressure gas to be measured is connected to the screw part 2, the sphere 6 is compressed with increasing gas pressure P on the liquid surface to decrease in volume, and then the buoyancy applied to the sphere decreases to sink the sphere 6 below its initial flotation position, so that the gas pressure can be read on the scale of the float rod 8.
