PURPOSE: To attain stable and efficient separation for a long period by arranging a separation charger formed by a destaticizing stylus and a block consisting of an insulating material supporting the stylus on the downstream side of a transfer charger and setting up to surface resistance of the block to a prescribed conditional value.
CONSTITUTION: The separation charger 3 formed by the block 3b consisting of the insulating material such as synthetic resin and the destaticizing stylus 3a planted into the block 3b is unitedly and adjacently arranged with/to one side of a shield case 2a of the transfer charger 2 on the downstream side of the charger 2 in the traveling direction of a photosensitive body 1. A groove-like recessed part is formed on the block 3b in its longitudinal direction on the opposite side to the photosensitive body 1 and the point part of the stylus 3a is exposed, opposed to the photosensitive body 1 and connected to a high voltage power supply 5. At least a part of the surface of the block 3b is constituted so as to have resistance values 106W1015Ωcm as shown by number 7 and the part is connected to the earthed shield case 2a.
