PURPOSE: To efficiently remove plastics, by controlling the water-retaining ratio of paper, fibers, etc. in which plastics are mixed above 9wt% and detecting the plastics with an electrometer using the difference in the chargability of surface potential.
CONSTITUTION: Paper, fibers, etc. are continuously dropped from a reservoir 1 onto a belt conveyer 2 and levelled into a thin layer using a rotary rod 3. A needle-shaped bar 6 for corona discharge is provided above the movable mounting surface of the belt conveyer 2, the content of water in the paper, fibers, etc. is adjusted to 12% during passage, and the paper, fibers, etc. are charged with electricity by treating them with corona discharge. The electrode part 8 of a surface electrometer 7 is provided at the back of the bar 6 for corona discharge, to measure an amount of potential applied to the paper, fibers, etc. This measured output is introduced into a comparator 10 to detect whether its absolute value to reference potential is higher or not. If it is higher, an alarm 12 is driven, and then plastics are removed by hands.
