Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To industrially advantageously recover a ruthenium complex from a hydrogenerating reaction product soln. of an org. carbonyl compd. containing a ruthenium complex having a tertiary organophosphorus compd. as a ligand as a catalyst and to reutilize the same in hydrogenating reaction if necessary.
SOLUTION: A catalyst soln. obtained by removing an objective product from a reaction product soln. obtained by hydrogenating an org. carbonyl compd. in the presence of a ruthenium complex having a tertiary organophosphorus compd. as a ligand is extracted with an aq. soln. containing a basic substance and a non-polar org. solvent successively or simultaneously or in reverse order to be separated into an aq. soln. phase mainly containing the basic substance and an org. solvent phase mainly containing a ruthenium complex. Next, the obtained org. solvent phase is extracted with lower alcohol to be separated into an org. solvent phase and a lower alcohol phase and an org. solvent is distilled off from the org. solvent phase.
