Abstract:
To provide a sericin-containing composite having high biological compatibility or activity by depositing hydroxyapatite on a base.
The sericin-containing composite is obtained by bringing an aqueous solution containing calcium ions and phosphate ions into contact with a sericin-containing base (a fiber, a fabric, a knitted fabric, a nonwoven fabric or the like constituted of sericin or raw silk) to deposit apatites (especially, hydroxyapatite) on the base. The aqueous solution contains a supersaturated amount of calcium ions and phosphate ions with respect to calcium phosphate and contains 2.5 mM or more of calcium ions and 1 mM or more of phosphate ions at 36.5°C.
