To elucidate the physiological activity function of components constituting un-decomposed sericin and provide new medical raw materials, cosmetic raw materials, or the like, by utilizing the functional components.
This cell growth-accelerating agent consists mainly of sericin obtained by eluting from fiber (cocoon fiber) spun by indoor silkworms and having approximately 400000 molecular weight measured by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). The cell growth- accelerating agent (substance) is very useful for accelerating the cell growth by using it for a wound-covering material, a capillary endotherlium-forming material and an organ-forming material as a medical use, for a cell-growth bed material as a bio-material and for a cosmetic material as a skin care use.
