PURPOSE: To allow the execution for an instruction using a constant, by setting the initial value of a program constant at an idle region of a general- purpose register and in the initial state of a processor and using this set value when the specific conditions is generated in order to execute an instruction.
CONSTITUTION: A general-purpose register G-Reg generally has many idle addresses, and these addresses are used for setting a program constant. The initial value of the program constant is set at the above-mentioned idle address of the register G-Reg based on a microprogram of a service processor SVP at the stage of the initial load (IPL) of a processor. When the specific conditions is satisfied, the corresponding constants in the register G-Reg are read out and executed by an arithmetic circuit. As a result, an instruction using a constant is executed. Then an alteration is possible for the program constant by giving an access alteration to an optional address to which a constant is set by a specific instruction.
