PURPOSE: To enable the efficient purification of a large volume of sewage and to facilitate maintenance and management by providing the inside of a water conduit channel with filter media and aerator with the system for introducing sewage into the water conduit channel having side holes provided via crushed stones in the soil and purifying the sewage.
CONSTITUTION: Coarse particles such as sand are settled and removed from the sewage introduced from rivers, etc., in a grit chamber 8 and thereafter, the sewage flows into the water conduit channel 1 and while the sewage passes the filter media 4, the sewage is aerated and purified in the sewage purifying system. The purified water is released again to the rivers, etc., through a storage tank 9. The sludge peeled after sticking to the filter media 4 accumulates in the lower space of the water conduit channel 1 and is forced to flow into the storage tank 9 where the sludge settles. On the other hand, a part of the sewage introduced into the water conduit channel 1 leaks from the slits formed on the flanks of the water conduit channel 1 while the sewage is purified. This water penetrates into the soil through the spacings of the crushed stones 2 provided outside. The sewage is purified by natural detergency by microorganisms, etc., in the crushed stones 2 and the soil.
