Abstract:
The tensioner (1) for the upper thread, at a sewing machine, has an electromagnet (60) to adjust the braking action on the thread and set its tension. The electromagnet has a moving section (61) at its drive, to set the applied forces on the thread according to the characteristics of the electromagnet. It has a variable stoke movement at least within a given stroke movement range, at a constant energy supply level which is generally equal to zero. The changes in the thread tension are effected by adjusting the energy supply, which sets the stroke of the moving section to apply a specific pressure on the thread tensioner in the given stroke movement range. The characteristic of the electromagnet is such that the applied pressure is increased when the electrical energy supply is raised for a constant stroke. The thread tension increases when the electrical energy is raised, where the stroke is adjusted on the specific stroke range. The thread tensioner is for a buttonhole sewing machine, with electrical control, which gives a zigzag stitching on the left and right sides of the buttonhole, and also the stitching at the top and bottom of it. The drive section (61) of the electromagnet assembly is fed with an increased electrical energy supply when stitching the sides of the buttonhole, and it is supplied with a lower energy level when the top and bottom of the buttonhole are sewn.
