To make it possible to precisely control the phase offset of a shuttle for catching a thread loop for a main shaft by providing a synchronous control means for controlling one of a driving motor of a shuttle drive means and a driving motor of a sewing needle drive means and allowing the phase offset from the reference phase offset for the shuttle for catching a thread loop for the main shaft to be adjusted.
In order to drive a half-swingable shuttle 15 by the driving force of a main shaft 6, a main body 12 of a two-needle sewing machine 1 has a lower shaft 17, which is reciprocatively rotated through a crank rod 18 connected to a crank section 6a of the main shaft 6 and a sector gear 19. A half-swingable shuttle 16 of a shuttle module 13 is driven by a servo-motor 21 independently of the main shaft 6. In a sewing operation, the synchronous drive control of the main shaft 6 and a driving shaft of the servo-motor 21 is carried out, so that the phase offset of the shuttle for catching a thread loop from the reference phase offset previously set in RAM in the control for the shuttle for catching a thread loop for the main shaft 6 can be adjusted.
