To provide a shadow mask having a small plate thickness and preferably used for a large-screen thin cathode-ray tube.
This shadow mask is composed by arranging multiple slots each having a through-hole 21 communicated by a nearly-oblong back-side hole part 23 and a nearly-oblong front-side hole part 22 in a mask body. Each slot located in a peripheral part on the side receding from a vertical axis passing the center of the mask body is so structured that the vertical axis-side end A1 of the front-side hole part 22 is set at a coordinate position greater than -(0.1×(the plate thickness of the shadow mask)) as compared with the vertical axis-side end C1 of the back-side hole part 23 when a direction receding from the vertical axis is positive in the cross section coordinate shape in the shorter-side direction of the slot.
