To control occurrence of a prickly fiber even though a shaft is injured while it is difficult to be injured by a method wherein a heat shrinkable film covered layer is provided around a cylindrical shaft formed by laminating a plurality of fiber reinforced resin layers.
In a cylindrical or columnar shaft formed by laminating a plurality of fiber reinforced resin layers, a heat shrinkable film covered layer is provided around the shaft. A golf club shaft 1 is of a cylindrical form tapered by 5-8/1000 in an axial X-direction. A center of the shaft 1 has a hollow part 2, and the fiber reinforced resin layer 3 is laminated around the hollow part 2. About 4 to 12 layers of fiber reinforced resin sheets (prepreg) are wound around the same tapered mandrel as a taper of the shaft, and heated in a heating apparatus to form the resin layer 3. The reinforced fiber to be used is a carbon fiber, a glass fiber, a boron fiber, etc.
