Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the shape of a rolled plate of aluminum or the like without any influence of a coolant flowing out of a rolling stand.
SOLUTION: In this method of optically detecting the shape of the rolled plate 1 during rolling according to an image 4 projected on the rolled plate 1, liquid 8 is let flow to the rolled plate 1 with a designated thickness, thereby preventing foreign matter seizure, and an image is projected on the rolled plate applied with the flowing liquid to detect the shape of the rolled plate 1. Thus, the liquid is let flow on the rolled plate 1 with a designated thickness to project an image on the rolled plate applied with the flowing liquid 8, whereby no influence of a coolant flowing out of the rolling stands i, j is exerted, so that an image is accurately projected on the rolled plate 1, and a rolled plate of a favorable shape without intermediate elongation can be obtained. Foreign matter dropping on the rolled plate 1 is prevented from being seized to the rolled plate 1 by the liquid functioning as a cushion.
