To provide a new filamentary material especially designed so as not to cause a fraying state in which a yarn for weaving or knitting in a cut end part of a covering part is loosened and expanded to protrude the cut end part of the filamentary core material even if cut off with scissors, a cutter etc., and to provide bias binding, a core material etc., for clothing tailoring or footwear containing the filamentary material therein.
The shape-retaining covered filamentary material is composed of a filamentary core material obtained by the processes: The outer peripheral surface of the one filamentary core material composed of a resin material of polyethylene having plasticity and a polyurethane or rubber is covered by weaving or knitting the synthetic fiber or natural fiber yarn to compose the covering part. The covered filamentary material is prepared by securing the filamentary core material and the covering part in a state without losing bending functions.
