Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shape-stabilizing process for imparting a textile product with excellent shape stability without using chemicals simply by supplying steam under definite condition and provide an apparatus therefor.
SOLUTION: A definite amount of water is applied to a textile product 2 filled into a closed vessel 1. The air in the textile product 2 is removed by evacuating the vessel 1 to promote the penetration of steam into the textile product 2 in the subsequent step and prevent the discoloration and embrittlement of the textile product 2 caused by the oxidation with air. Superheated steam is supplied to the textile product in the evacuated vessel to perform the thermal setting of the product at a prescribed temperature for a prescribed period.
