To provide a sheet conveyance device provided with a skew compensation means of a sheet, having a simple configuration, and capable of easily controlling operation and to provide an image forming device using it.
A switch-back stand-by part 46 serving also as a skew compensation processing part is constituted so that it is branched on the halfway of a main sheet conveyance passage for conveying sheet 12A, and carry-in operation, sheet holding stand-by operation, and carry-out operation are performed by a roller 50 for holding tip arranged at an inlet of the switch-back stand-by part 46. The sheet 12A is carried out in the direction of carrying-out by predetermined amount while a plane for compensating skew of a guide member 57 is moved into the conveyance passage by a guide device 55 provided on the downstream side in the direction of carrying-out of the sheet 12A and is nipped and held by only the roller 50 for holding tip, and an end part of the sheet 12A is applied on the plane of the guide member 57 to change attitude of the sheet 12A held by the roller 50 for holding tip, thereby compensating skew.
