Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet conveying apparatus which prevents wear of a counter member from being accelerated due to rubbing between a sheet and the counter member, and an image forming apparatus including the sheet conveying apparatus.SOLUTION: A paper feeding deck 2 comprises: a first housing section 202 housing a sheet P; a first sheet conveyance path 205 provided in an extended manner from the first housing section 202: a pickup roller 31; a paper feeding roller 32; a retard roller 33; and a regulating member 50. A paper nip section N is formed between the paper feeding roller 32 and the retard roller 33. A drive control section 61, after a tip portion of the first sheet P1 in a conveyance direction which is positioned at the top portion of the first housing section 202 passes the paper nip section N, separates the retard roller 33 from the paper feeding roller 32, and brings the regulating member 50 into contact with a second sheet P2 positioned below the first sheet P1.
