This sheet conveying device comprises a sheet guide for guiding conveyed sheets, a plurality of sheet detecting sensors provided in a sheet contact surface of the sheet guide member, with which the conveyed sheet is brought in contact, and a sheet shape determining means for determining shape of the conveyed sheet on the basis of detection information of the sheet detecting sensor. The plurality of sheet detecting sensors are provided in an inclined surface provided in the sheet guide member, and the sheet shape determining means determines the amount of curl in a sheet end on the basis of positional information from the sheet detecting sensor for detecting a contact with the sheet and detecting timing thereof.
