To provide a sheet cutting apparatus, eliminating the need of removing a sheet in the course of cutting, which remains in the apparatus at the restart when the apparatus stops in the process of cutting the sheet.
A cutting means for cutting a predetermined portion of the sheet is disposed in a cutting stage such as a table for cutting a single sheet or a sheaf of sheets sequentially supplied. The cutting stage is provided with a sheet detecting means for detecting the presence/absence of a sheet. This apparatus includes: a driving means for driving the cutting means and; a control means for it. When the sheet detecting means detects a sheet at the power-on time or at the other starting time of the apparatus, the driving device is driven to perform the cutting operation by the cutting means. The control means includes a storage means for storing the operating condition of the cutting mens in the case of power failure or the other power supply cut-off. When the apparatus power is supplied, the subsequent operation of the cutting means is performed based upon the detecting condition of the sheet detecting means and the operating condition of the cutting means stored in the storage means.
