The sheet cutting device is provided with a sheet holding means for holing a single sheet or bundled sheets, a cutting blade for cutting at least one end of the sheet held by the sheet holding means, a driving means for reciprocating the cutting blade between a standby position separated from the sheet held by the sheet holding means apart at a distance and a cutting position to cut the sheet, a driving load detection means for detecting a load of the driving means, and a thickness detection means for detecting a thickness of the sheet bundle and/or a cutting length detection means for detecting a cutting length of the sheet bundle.
