Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method by which sealing can be reliably performed with excellent productivity in the case of manufacturing a large vacuum vessel, particularly, a plate type image display device, and a sheet frit suitable for this method.
CONSTITUTION: A sheet frit by temporarily baking frit glass after it is molded into a sheet-like small piece is used as a sealing material. Engaging parts, that is, step difference parts 101a and 104a or groove parts 102a and slant face parts 105a and 106a are arranged on sheet frits 101 to 106. Plural sheet frits are arranged in a sealing part so that the engaging parts engage with each other, and sealing is performed by heating. When paper strip-shaped sheet frits having no engaging part are used, the sheet frits are arranged by two or more layers or by two or more rows in the sealing part so that sheet frit end parts are dislocated from each other.
