To provide a sheet-like object for a ball to be appropriately used mainly for volleyball or beach volleyball, excellent in the controllability in the play in total including tossing and serving and in the smoothness of the degree of stall while the ball is flying, having an original three-dimensional outside appearance with excellent design and sufficient surface frictional strength.
The sheet-like object for the ball is composed of an elastomer coating layer layered on the surface of a fiber base material, and continuous projections and discontinuous recesses are formed on the surface of the coating layer. The discontinuous recesses are formed at average intervals of 0.5-3 mm. The depth of the recess is 50-500 m, and the vertically projected area of each recess is 1-5 mm2. The ratio of the total vertically projected area of the recesses to the surface area of the coating layer is 3-30%.
