Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a sheet material excellent in flexibility, sealing ability and heat resistance, useful for gaskets by kneading an inorganic filler except asbestos, rubber material and polycarbodiimide pulp into a sheet-like product which is then molded under heating. CONSTITUTION:(A) 30-90wt.% of an inorganic filler except asbestos, (B) 5-50wt.% of a rubber material, (C) 1-50wt.% of pulp made from a polycarbodiimide resin made up of recurring unit of formula I, II or III (R1 to R3 are each lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; R4 and R5 are each H, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; X is 0 or methylene) and (D) 0-50wt.% of organic or inorganic fibers are kneaded or put to mixed papermaking process to make a sheet-like product, which is then molded under heating to a temperature not lower than the softening point of the component C, or laminated with a reinforcing material treated with the polycarbodiimide resin followed by hot molding as described above, thus obtaining the objective sheet material.
