Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a sheet molding compd. applicable for production of exterior body panels of vehicles, excellent in flexibility.
CONSTITUTION: A flexibility modifying agent is incorporated into a sheet molding compd.(SMC) molding material contg. unsatd. polyester resins, isocyanate group terminated urethane pre-polymers, fiber reinforced materials, thickening agents, free radical polymerization catalysts, inert fillers, phase stabilizers, parting compds., liner oligomers, etc. The flexibility modifying agent consists of polystyrene-polybutadiene-polystyrene, polystyrene-polyisoprene-polystyrene, polystyrene-ethylene/butylene-polystyrene or these random mixtures, it is preferable to be present about 3 to about 20 wt.% amts. in the final composition in fresh state.
