The sheet processing device configures the setting of a sheet holder 110 to be positioned so that a distance between a staple tray surface and the sheet holder is d1 when discharging a sheet to the staple tray, when performing a bind processing, moves the sheet holder so as to define a distance d3, and when discharging a sheet bundle to a catch tray, moves the sheet holder 110 to a position so that the distance between the staple tray surface and the sheet holder is d2, wherein d1, d2, d3 are situated in the relationship d1>d2>d3.
