Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time from image reading of a foregoing document sheet till image reading of the following document sheet in such a case that the images of a two-side document sheet are to be read continuously.
SOLUTION: A foregoing document sheet P1 undergoes such processes as pre-inversion (refer to (a) and (b) in the attached illustration), image reading from the first surface (refer to (c)), inversion of the sheet (refer to (d)), image reading from the second surface (refer to (e)), and exhaust of the sheet (refer to (g) and (h)). During the period with image reading from the second surface of the foregoing document sheet P1, the pre-inversion process of the following document sheet P2 is conducted, and transport of the next trailing document sheet P3 to the specified position is performed along with the exhaust of the foregoing document sheet P1. This allows shortening of the time from image reading of the foregoing document sheet till image reading of the following document sheet.
