PURPOSE: To automatize prescribed paper sheet folding irrespective of an arrival attitude of the sheet by arranging in order a first sheet folding mechanism, a 90° turning mechanism, and a second sheet folding mechanism, and providing control means for controlling state reading and actuation for electric elements of these mechanisms.
CONSTITUTION: A paper sheet is fed from a unit 100 into between rollers 204, 208. And, a current is conducted through members other than steel ball solenoids 220, 228, 224, 234, and 274 based on detection of said paper sheet by a sensor 217, whereby conducted steel balls are pulled up and fed with the aid of rollers 208, 204 in contact with these balls to permit an encoder 297 to start to count pulses. Then, reached a counted value a prescribed value of A3, turning solenoids 240, 236 are interrupted to turn the paper sheet, while with the control value being reached a second value a register 266 enters into a paper conveyance path due to conduction of a solenoid 270. And furthermore, 90° turning is completed with a third value, whereby a current is conducted through solenoids 236, 234 to interrupt rotating force applied to the paper sheet, and in addition solenoids 278,295,291 are interrupted with a fourth value, whereby the paper sheet is brought into contact with registers 262, 264, and with a fifth value solenoids 278, 295 are conducted to interrupt the driving force applied to the paper sheet and furthermore with a sixth value the paper is brought into contact with solenoids 264, 266.
