To provide a shellfish treating method and shellfish treatment apparatus for continuously separating mass of shellfishes collected from water intake channels in an electric power plant into small pieces of shells and bodies with good mass productivity without heating the shellfishes.
Shellfishes 4 on the water bottom of water collecting channel 1 and seawater 3 are collected into a first trommel tank 20 by a collection pump 11; seawater 3 is sent to a water tank 40; the shellfishes 4 are crushed into small pieces of shells and bodies by a crusher 30 and charged into seawater 3 flowing through the tank 40; the crushed shellfishes are separated into the small pieces of shells (a) and bodies b while flowing through a channel 41 of the water tank 40; and the respective small pieces are made to flow into a second trommel tank 50. The shells (a) are finally separated from the bodies b by a double trommel 51 of the second trommel tank 50, and the shells (a) and bodies b are collected by respective corresponding collection vessels 61, 62. The collected bodies b are effectively used as fishery cultivation feed or ration.
