PURPOSE: To improve the travelling stability by forming a controller to decide the optimal deceleration ratio possible to secure the gripping force of a vehicle to a road on the basis of a horizontal G sensor output signal and to enable the setting of the various speed ratio to said optimal deceleration ratio at random through an actuator.
CONSTITUTION: When a controller 2 detects ON of an acceleration switch signal S1, it performs ordinary deceleration control. In the case that the signal S1 is OFF, when the difference between the current deceleration ratio computed with each drive or driven pulley rotation sensor output signal S5, S6 and the deceleration ratio before shifting to the current deceleration ratio is large more than the prescribed value, the horizontal G is further detected from a horizontal G sensor output signal S3, and in the case of horizontal G<0, the current deceleration ratio is converted to the deceleration ratio before shifting. In the case of horizontal G≥0, the optimal deceleration ratio is selected from the characteristic stored in the controller 2, and when the brake switch is OFF, a brake switch signal S4 is converted to the optimal deceleration ratio. The travelling stability at the time of cornering of a vehicle is thus improved.
