Abstract:
To provide a shift control method for a vehicular automatic transmission reducing the time up to completion of gear shift after a driver's operation (after start of gear shift) in a manual shift mode.
The method includes predicting, when a predetermined gear stage is attained in the manual shift mode, the following gear stage, and performing a friction transmission mechanism waiting control of laying a friction transmission mechanism which is not used to attain the current gear stage into a state just before starting torque transmission after performing connection operation of a synchronous meshing mechanism based on the prediction result and before starting the gear shift by the driver's operation.
