PURPOSE: To prevent erroneous operation by providing second-speed and first- speed changing switches on a switch plate regularly energized downward, and rotating a lever to drive range, thereby protruding the changing switches onto the upper surface of a cover.

CONSTITUTION: A slide opening for operating a first lever 17 and two switch openings 11, 13 are provided on a cover 5 covering the upper surface opening of a console box 1. First- and second-speed changing switches 33, 35 are provided on a switch plate 27 having one end rotatably fixed to a vehicle body by a pin 29, and the plate 27 is energized downward by a spring 32. A control rod 23 is pushed by a second lever 21 by operation of a first lever 17 around a shaft 19, and third and fourth levers 25, 37 are also interlocked therewith. When the first lever 17 is rotated to drive range, the switch plate 27 is pushed up by the fourth lever 37. The change-over switches 33, 35 are protruded from the cover openings 11, 13 and made possible to operate. Thus, erroneous operation is never caused.
