Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent shift lock from being released by a third man having no tool by letting a release button be projected out so as to be driven by a tool when a rotary bush is manually operated in the shift lock device for an automatic transmission.
CONSTITUTION: When a shift lever 1 is in a P position, a rotary bush 25 is in a lock position where no shift operation can be done at all because the slit 25a does not agree with the lock pin 7. Under the aforesaid condition, when a lock release condition including a state of switch-on is established with a solenoid 27 excited, the rotary bush 25 is rotated to a lock release position where the slit 25a does agree with the lock pin 7. Meanwhile, when shift lock has to be released because of the failure of an electric system, the head section of a screw member 71 is exposed, a release button 73 is projected upward so as to be driven with the screw member 71 rotated by a tool, and the rotary bush 25 is rotated to a lock release position with a release button 73 pushed down via a release rod 69, a release lever 39 and the like thereafter.
