Title:
SHIP COUNTER ROTATING PROPELLER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS63315396
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make it possible to temporarily self-propel a ship even though inner and outer shafts are seized, by using a variable propeller as a rear propeller. CONSTITUTION:During normal sailing, high pressure oil 10 is fed into a pressure receiving chamber 9 through an inner shaft center hydraulic hole 2 so as to urge a piston 4 rearward in a propeller boss 3, a projection on a variable propeller blade 7 being rotated in accordance with the position of a cam groove 5 so as to change the direction of the blade to determine the pitch thereof, resulting that it is set in a reverse pitch with respect to a propeller blade 016 of a front propeller 017. Further, when an inner shaft 1 and an outer shaft 014 are seized, the high pressure oil 10 is discharged from the pressure receiving chamber 9 through the shaft center hydraulic hole 2 to urge the piston forward in the propeller boss 3 by means of a spring 6. Accordingly, the rear and front propeller blades 7, 016 has a pitch in the same direction so that the inner and outer shafts are rotated in one and the same direction so as to serve as a tandem propeller assembly on sailing. Thereby it is possible to temporarily sail the ship.
