Abstract:
To provide a ship propulsion system and a ship that can achieve a fixed point holding of a hull provided with a main propulsion machine and an auxiliary propulsion machine, while minimizing an environmental load accompanying driving of the propulsion machines.SOLUTION: A ship propulsion system 102 of the present invention includes: a main propulsion machine 1 configured to be able to change a direction of thrust by turning laterally, and mounted to a stern 101b of a hull 101; an auxiliary propulsion machine 2 which includes an electric motor 23 for driving an auxiliary propeller 20 generating thrust, is configured to be able to change a direction of thrust by turning laterally, has a maximum output P20 smaller than the main propulsion machine 1, and is mounted to the stern 101b; and a control section 6 which maintains an orientation T1 of a bow 101a of the hull 101 at a target orientation T2, and executes control for fixed point holding that maintains a position A1 of the hull 101 at a target point A2, by coordinating the main propulsion machine 1 with the auxiliary propulsion machine 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
