PURPOSE: To provide a shock absorber for a vehicle surely absorbing and dispersing the kinetic energy at the time of a vehicle collision to reduce the shock sound and having a smooth outer surface so that various pictures and characters for guidance can be easily described.
CONSTITUTION: The outer surface of a foam material 3 having a cross sectional shape combined with a circular arc located at the front and a rectangular using the chord of the circular arc as one side is covered with an aluminum alloy thin plate 2. A recess 4 is formed on the foam material 3, and part of a guard rail 11 including a stanchion 11a is inserted into the recess 4. The aluminum alloy thin plate 2 prevents the recovery of the foam material 3 after a collision, and the repulsion applied to a vehicle is reduced. A LED 9 is arranged at the upper end periphery section of the shock absorber main body 1 for a vehicle to make the shock absorber for a vehicle easy to recognize.
