A shoelace 1, which is braided or woven of polyester multifilament yarns 2 functioning as the non-expandible yarns, and polyurethane monofilament yarns 3 functioning as the non-slip yarns, is provided with terminal members 4 on both ends forming stiff portions to go through eyelets. The shoelace 1 is made up of a large number of strands 5, each of which is composed of the polyester multifilament yarns 2 and the polyurethane monofilament yarns 3 braided in the proportion of nine to one.
