PURPOSE: To enable the reception of conventional short-wave broadcast other than radio short-wave broadcast, by providing a manual changeover switch and an automatic channel selecting switch to a microcomputer, in a PLL synthesizer system short wave receiver.

CONSTITUTION: The reception frequency can be decided by giving data from a microcomputer 12 to a frequency divider 13 in a PLL circuit 11, and a desired short- wave broadcast can be received by switching a switch device 17 to a manual mode. In taking the selector switch device 17 as the automatic channel selection mode, the received electric field intensity detected at a signal detecting circuit 8 is compared with the reference level of a reference voltage set circuit 9 at a comparison circuit 7, and a signal for switching is given to a microcomputer 12 from the result. At frequency switching, a muting circuit 5 is operated with a signal from the microcomputer 12 and the frequency is switched to a broadcast frequency having the electric field intensity more than a given level.
