Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery separator to exhibit characteristics excellent in a thickness, rupture strength and peel strength besides a shutdown characteristic, in its turn, a cutoff characteristic of a passing ion.
SOLUTION: A three-layer battery separator is formed by sandwiching a first microporous membrane a third microporous membrane and a second microporous membrane in a sandwich shape. A shutdown three-layer battery separator 10, on which the first microporous membrane and the third microporous membrane have rupture strength stronger than the second microporous membrane, and the second microporous membrane has a melting temperature lower than the first and the third membrane, is excellent in a cutoff effect of a passing ion when a short circuit is caused, and shows characteristics excellent in a thickness, rupture strength and peel strength.
