Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide side guide devices on the inlet and outlet sides for a roughing mill wherein flaws and defects on side guides and a sheet bar are small even when an obliquely advancing sheet bar is tightened and guided and the deterioration in the yield can be restrained at the same time.
CONSTITUTION: Freely rotatable vertical rolls 3, 4 projecting to a sheet bar passing path from the corner parts of the top and tail ends are mounted on the top and tail ends of the side guides 1, 2 mounted on the inlet and outlet sides of the roughing mill composed of a horizontal mill H and an edger mill B and a freely rotatable vertical roll 23 projecting to the sheet bar passing path is mounted between those vertical rolls 3, 4 as well.
