Abstract:
PURPOSE: To optimally design a dot pattern on the light transmission plate of a side light type surface light source device.
CONSTITUTION: A lamp 1 is arranged on the side of the light transmission plate 2, and light introduced in the plate 2 from a light incident surface is emitted from a light emitting surface. Then, the dot pattern is disposed on the back surface of the plate 2 so as to obey a following fundamental rule. (1) There is no part (reverse gradient part) where the occupied area rate of the dot pattern descends from a part where the light from the lamp 1 easily reaches (generally, near part) to a part where it hardly reaches (generally, far part). (2) There is no part where the occupied area rate of the dot pattern is changed suddenly. An almost triangular dot pattern compensating the lowering of luminance occurring because of the vicinity of the electrode part 1a of the lamp 1 is provided at the corner part of the plate 2.
