PURPOSE: To supply a paste layer formed on a partial circular-arclike area of a paste coating surface to a predetermined position of a text while fixing a scraper for restricting a thickness of the layer to be formed on the paste coating surface of a paste drum to a predetermined position to be provided.

CONSTITUTION: A reference recess 16 is formed on a circumferential paste coating surface 15 provided on a paste drum 14, and a plurality of chips 18a-18d having paste coating surfaces 22 are telescopically provided at positions separate from the recess 15. The desired chip (e.g. 18a) is retracted to form a recess 26a at its position to form a paste coating area having a desired length L and interposed to be held between the recess 26a and the recess 26 on an outer periphery of the drum so that a text 11 can be coated with paste applied to the coating area.
