Title:
SIELDING MEMBER FOR WELDING UNDERWATER STUD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6349370
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for draining work prior to the welding by forming a peripheral wall part watertightly attachably and detachably to the outside periphery of an opening part of the welding gun tip and providing a conductive part to form an electrification path between the stud tip and base metal to the bottom.

CONSTITUTION: After a stud 3 is fitted to a welding gun main body 1, an arc shield 18 is supported by a shield grip and next, a shielding member 51 is fitted thereto. The welding gun main body 1 is pressed against the surface of the underwater base metal 36 to apply an electric current to the stud 3 and a welding current is allowed to flow to the base metal 36 and next, the stud 3 is retreated and the arc discharge is performed between the stud tip 3a and the conductive part 56 and the base metal 36 are molten to form a molten pool in the arc shield 18. Next, the stud 3 is again advanced and pressed against the inside of the molten pool and the electrification to the stud 3 is stopped to join the stud 3 to the base metal 36. Next, the welding gun main body 1 is separated from the base metal 36 and the stud 3 is drawn out from the gun main body 1 and the shielding member 51 is separated and the arc shield 18 is removed to obtain the stud welding forming deposition.
