Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal coding technology that is reduced in bit rate while suppressing degradation of signal quality of tone quality and the like.
SOLUTION: The feature of an input signal is extracted by the linear prediction and the like and made white in a normalization circuit 101. A signal made white is sent to a T/F(time base/frequency axis) transformation circuit 102 where transformation of MDCT(modified discrete cosine transform) is performed, and a coefficient on a frequency axis is obtained. This coefficient (y) is sent to SQ(scalar quatization) and VQ(vector quantization) circuit 103. A bit allotting circuit 104 performs quantization bit allotting of each coefficient based on a LPC(linear predictive coding) coefficient and parameters of pitch and the like from the normalization circuit 101, and the SQ and VQ circuit 103 performs controlling whether quantization of each coefficient is performed in SQ or VQ in accordance with this allotted bit.
