PURPOSE: To correctly convey information at all times and to enable a driver and a pedestrian to accurately judge it by displaying general information as character data on a display part, where plural light emitting elements are arranged, separately from a tricolor display.

CONSTITUTION: The signal device 1 receives the general information sent from an information transmission part 9 by a transmission/-reception part 2. The information is inputted to a control part 3. The control part 3 consists of a ROM 4 stored with data and programs, a CPU 5 which executes the programs, and a RAM 6 stored temporarily with data in the process of processing. Data from the control part 3 are inputted to a display control part 7, which controls graphic data and character data to be displayed on a display part 8. The display part 8 consists of LEDs of three colors and a signal display of green, orange, and blue is made on a graphic display area. Further, the display control part 7 generates character display data on the basis of the general information and displays it on a character display area.
