Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent divergence.
CONSTITUTION: A signal reproduced from a magnetic tape 1 is equalized by a signal equalizing circuit 5 composed of a FIR transversal filter, and supplied to a decoder 6. The decoder 6 compares this signal with a prescribed threshold value set in advance and outputs it to an error detecting/correcting circuit 7 as the digital data of logic '1' or '0'. The error detecting/correcting circuit 7 detects the error of the inputted digital data, outputs the data after correcting the error, and outputs the error rate to a microcomputer 8. When this error rate is within the range of a reference value, the microcomputer 8 fixes the coefficient of a multiplier in the signal equalizing circuit 5 at a present value. When the error rate gets out of the range of the reference value, the coefficient of the multiplier is updated according to LMS algorithm.
