PURPOSE: To maintain the continuity of a communication link during the period of intermittent transmission while saving the power of a subscriber's unit by reducing the power of a carrier signal, increasing the band width of a modulation signal up to a certain value less than prescribed band width and generating a signal having the reduced power and increased deviation. CONSTITUTION: A cellular radio telephone transmission block is provided with a variable deviation block 200, an audio input block 205, an addition block 210, a modulation block 215, and a variable power block 220. A variable gain amplifier in the block 200 amplifies the band width of a signal through frequency deviation. The signal becomes a modulation input for modulation and its carrier power is reduced by a variable power amplifier in the variable power stage 220. The signal is transmitted as an output signal of reduced power and increased deviation. Consequently the continuity of the link can be maintained during the period of intermittent communication while restricting the power consumption of each subscriber's unit.
