Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing apparatus and a signal processing method for applying highly accurate classification adapting processing even to a signal whose signal change characteristics are entirely different due to a difference between frequency bands of processed signals.
SOLUTION: Classification sections 64 to 66 use data selected by a selection pattern corresponding to filter coefficients of an LPF 61, an HPF 62, and an HPF 63 to apply classification processing to a MUSE moving picture after interpolation whose frequency band is divided by the LPF 61, the HPF 62, and the HPF 63 and outputs class codes. The class codes supplied from the classification sections 64 to 66 determine addresses of adaptive filter coefficient ROMs 67 to 69, which supply adaptive filter coefficients corresponding to the class to adaptive filters 70 to 72. The adaptive filters 70 to 72 apply the adaptive filter processing to the MUSE moving picture after the interpolation. A mixer section 73 mixes three adaptive filter processing outputs to output a multiplex sub-sampling encode moving picture signal subjected to up-conversion.
