Abstract:
To display an image without changing grayscale characteristics when displaying the image on a display unit which is constituted so as to limit luminous intensity in accordance with the luminance of the image signal.SOLUTION: An image signal processing unit 13 generates an image signal in which a fixed luminance pattern having a white level is superimposed on the luminance pattern of a prescribed first region in each frame of image data. A luminance detection unit 14 detects the luminous intensity of a second region 24 of a display unit 20 that corresponds to the first region while the display unit 20 is displaying an image based on the image signal. A determination unit 15 determines that the display unit 20 is displaying an image signal applying a limiter to luminance when the luminance intensity in the second region 24 is lower than a prescribed value. A luminance adjustment indication unit 16 indicates to the image signal processing unit 13 so as to lower luminance in a prescribed third region, except the first region, in each frame of the image signal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
