PURPOSE: To perform optimum discrimination of data for an MR head, etc., having a nonlinear characteristic.
CONSTITUTION: The signal processing device is provided with a bias setting circuit 1 into which an asymmetrical signal of an output of the MR head, etc., is inputted, a nonlinear correction circuit 2 for processing an output of the bias setting circuit 1 to perform nonlinear correction from the asymmetrical signal to a symmetrical signal and a data discriminator 3 for discriminating data from an output of the nonlinear correction circuit 2. In addition, a circuit for feeding back the signal to the bias setting circuit via a feedback circuit consisting of a 0-value error calculator 4 and a low pass filter 5, etc., is provided to constitute the device. Magnetic recording information read out by the MR head having the nonlinear characteristic can be reproduced at a low error rate. Consequently, the reliability of a magnetic recording device, etc., can be improved with great strides.
