PURPOSE: To record/reproduce high speed reproduction data and ultrahigh speed reproduction data.
CONSTITUTION: Selection of n track sets, each comprising m consecutive track is performed and k spots of separated high speed reproduction data areas are provided at the same positions of the tracks of each track set. The same high speed reproduction data are recorded in adjacent high speed reproduction data areas among m*k spots of high speed reproduction data areas belonging to the same track set, and N track set each comprising M tracks selected from tracks other than the m*n tracks are selected. Ultrahigh speed reproduction data areas consecutive in each track are provided to the same positions on M tracks of each track set. The same ultrahigh speed reproduction data are recorded at M spots of ultrahigh speed reproduction data areas belonging to the same track set among the M*N spots of ultrahigh speed reproduction data areas belonging to the track set.
